A Peaceful Morning…

Some peace for your morning.

You have to respect all things Yoga. It requires a level of self-control and body awareness that reaches far beyond bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves.

One of these days I’m going to take the plunge and try it.

One of these days…

Sometimes we need a dose of reality. I found Tony Blauer through CrossFit’s mainsite many moons ago with his S.P.E.A.R. system of training. He loves to mesh the mentality and training of CrossFit with real-life adventures of defending one’s self against danger.

Here is a brief, but great list of leadership qualities that i think we all need to adapt.

10 Paradoxical Commandments of Leadership

By Tony Blauer

In army, blauer, Blauer’s Blog, LEO&MIL I had the great privilege of meeting COL Drew Meyrowich during a recent visit to Ft. Jackson. COL Meyrowich is a warrior’s warrior and took an interest in how our program emphasized and valued the cerebral, cognitive, emotional & psychological facets of a warrior’s arsenal as much, if not more than the physcial attributes. The COL recently posted this on his FB profile and I was compelled to share it…

“Been a while since I posted theses Rules I Live By. Learned these as a Young Wolfhound Major, helped me through tough times in Combat, and they continue to help me. Thanks Kent M. Keith!”10 Paradoxical Commandments of Leadership by Kent Keith

1. People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered. Love and trust them anyway.

2. If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Do good anyway.

3. If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway.

4. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.

5. Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway.

6. The biggest people with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest people with the smallest minds. Think big anyway.

7. People favor underdogs but follow top dogs. Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

8. What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway.

9. People really need help but may attack you if you help them. Help people anyway.

10. Give the world the best you have, and you may get kicked in the teeth. Give the world your best anyway.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.

But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

As rude and crude as this blogger can be (just read the name), I love they love to hate and hate to love everything about CrossFit. I especially enjoy when he calls out the CrossFit community on our BS, because we have a lot of it.

Thanks to Hi-Temp, crossfitters are phenomenal athletes.  “Damn dude, you really crushed that Diane!”  You did three good deadlifts and the rest were like rack pulls from the second pin!  Randy is an incredibly easy workout too… when you slam 75 pounds onto the ground and it bounces up to your waist.

This guy does it all wrong.  He resets after every rep???? What about his time???  He should be using Hi-Temps and get that bounce…. with Iron and a reset after every rep.

And here is an example of what everyone else does.  This guy is fully utilizing the bounce and hitch deadlift technique pioneered by absolutely no one who knew what they were doing.  I bet he has wicked fast Dianes.

It looks like i am dropping this… but I am actually about to catch it for another snatch.

I got super excited to Snatch 175lb the other day. LOL

I sometimes wonder how another human being can perform at such a high level.

Just amazing.

Watching this WOD hurt… LOL

  1. I read the posted WOD for CrossFit main site today… and then ironically read this tweet on twitter from a fellow CrossFitter…
  2. WOD_Princess
How is it that I fear almost no horse but some wods scare the ever living crap out of me before I even start them????
  3. My reply..
  4. iamunafraid
@WOD_Princess I often get that rush of excitement/fear/anxious before a WOD.
  5. A classic benchmark CrossFit WOD today:

    Thursday 121129

    Fight Gone Bad!

    Three rounds of:
Wall-ball, 20 pound ball, 10 ft target (Reps)
Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds (Reps)
    Box Jump, 20″ box (Reps)
    Push-press, 75 pounds (Reps)
    Row (Calories)

In this workout you move from each of five stations after a
minute. The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. This is a
five-minute round from which a one-minute break is allowed before
repeating. On call of “rotate”, the athletes must move to next station
immediately for best score. One point is given for each rep, except on
the rower where each calorie is one point.

Add your points and post them to comments.

  7. Here is the demo video…

  8. I texted my training partner … and ironically he’s equally amped about today’s workout.
This will be my first time trying this benchmark.. so I guess we’ll see what happens.
